The iPhone and iTouch are two of the must have products offered by Apple. In September 2009, Apple announced that it sold more than 50,000,000 iPhone and iTouch products and that they reached the a milestone of having 2,000,000,000 applications downloaded from iTunes. The numbers are just staggering considering the number of downloads is almost one third of the estimated world population as of 2009. There are over 85,000 of these applications available for a small fee (or even free!) but as you might know, not all of them are useful or bug free. This post details some of the more helpful travel related applications that you should probably have installed if you consider yourself a traveler.

Flight and Hotel Prices

Need to find the best airfare and hotel prices quickly? The Kayak application can be used by changing your flight at the airport or finding a hotel room at the last minute during your travels. The best part of this application is that it will search many airline websites, along with other travel websites, to find the best airfares and flights for you.

Your Wallet

It’s beyond important to know currency exchange rates when traveling overseas. Just imagine being told the price of an item in a foreign currency and not having the faintest idea how much it compares to your local currency. This is when having a currency converter on your iPhone or iTouch can really come in handy. The Currency application provides up-to-date exchange rate information for more than 90 currencies and compares multiple currencies of your choice on the main screen.

Your Travel Itinerary

The TravelTracker application should be installed on your iPhone or iTouch as your personal travel assistant. This application stores all your important travel information from frequent travel award programs to flight status updates to recording your vacation itinerary. A must have application for any traveler!
